COVID19 – Partner with us to reach the most vulnerable

As we face the most difficult pandemic of recent times, I pray that you and your loved ones remain safe.

At our South African global support office, with remote connections, we are hard at work strategizing and planning with all our Country Directors, the best way forward in which JAM can effectively assist those in greatest need and be an effective buffer, providing the best possible preventative measures, as we reach the communities we assist Africa-wide.

On March 16, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa declared National State of Disaster followed by a 21day lockdown. The Department of Social Development ordered the closure of all Early Childhood Development (ECD’s) centres from Wednesday 18th March until, at earliest, April 17th. JAM SA has been registered as an Essential Services Provider, so we are in the process of rolling out multiple initiatives to assist those living in vulnerable communities in informal settlements. This includes the distribution of essential food supplies and hygiene products, along with awareness and practical training on sanitation and hand-washing practices to curb the spread of the Corona Virus.

As you know, our teams in the field are the hands and feet to reach our beneficiaries, and are an eye-witness to the potential catastrophic situation they face should this virus reach their communities. Most of them live hand-to-mouth, already dependent on food distributions. They have little or no access to clean water, food security, healthcare, and minimal protection from the spread of Covid19.

We are processing applications for permits to receive consignments of essential life-saving commodities into our countries of operations who have very limited or no supplies or food reserves.

Please assist us to reach those in greatest need.

With our beneficiaries top of mind, we are abreast with all Government and World Health Organisation regulations and guidelines during this time, determined to mitigate the impact on our people, our partners and our beneficiaries.

The world as we know it, will never be the same again and we are adjusting our modus operandi accordingly.

Thank you that we can count on your continued support and prayers
